Mutterings
Welcome to Mutterings; Proprietor (& former journalist) Sarah Mountford's collection of photos, articles, links, comment, videos, recommendations and understandings from the world of Mutts.
suffolk Artist turns her focus on hoM dogs
Artist Lucy Perry turns her attention to HoM dogs. Beautiful colours writ large. Lovely :)
Licensing
Home Boarding is a growing business. How does licensing work and what does it take to get a license?
horses out, HOm in…
After 14 years of office’ing from a spare sitting room in the house, HoM finally now has an office of its own! Poor homeless horses, but happy peeps…
Razzing it up at Red Rooster!
Lots of fun - and a smattering of work - for the House of Mutt team again this year at the Duke of Grafton's Red Rooster Festival. Trainer Olivia Turner & HoM’s Sarah Mountford got nabbed by BBC Radio - wise words from one, a smidge of festival’y over-excitement from t’other…
Mutt Mitts
We now have supplies in stock of the new Mutt Mitts, biodegradable cleansing mitts for use on dogs (and people, and car seats, and wellies, or whatever really) .
How much fun was that
So. We threw a birthday party! Not our usual sideways nod or extra biscuit, but a full on PARTY birthday party. On instruction obviously, and with (amazing) cake provided. We were a tad short on time that day I seem to remember. But oh my goodness, what fun it was!
LIFE IN LOCKDOWN: HOW CAN WE HELP?
How can we help during Lockdown?
HoM is very much still open. We have a little contingent in – one whose owner has been unwell, one abroad, and so on. And it’s turning out that we’re coming to London about once every week/10 days for emergency trips.
DOGS IN LOCKDOWN
Spring 2020: strange times for us all, and not least for our dogs. Obviously there are joys of endless cuddles, company and companionship but, like many a parent out there with children recently come home to roost, learning to share your home FULL TIME with those you love doesn’t necessarily come without its challenges!
it’s all glamour
I love the fact that dogs are often portrayed in the media as being glamorous accessories for their particularly glamorous owners. And the few journalist bods who have been here thankfully tend to go down the same route: sooo sweet, such fun, sooo gorgeous :)
BLOOMIN’ BREXIT…
Brexit looms. (Possibly. Sometime.) Bringing with it plenty of questions about everything, but what we’re interested in here is dogs – and more specifically, how Brexit will affect people wanting to travel abroad with theirs.
HOW HAVE WE SURVIVED WITHOUT…?
We’re delighted to announce the (impending) launch of our new HoM Mutt Mitts. Somewhat akin to a wet wipe, but in a mitt form – which offers a whole lot more protection for your hand if you’re tacking something truly unpleasant; and gives a lot more surface area for extra shampoo and conditioner
COOL SCHOOL: WHO’D HAVE THOUGHT A MUSIC FESTIVAL WOULD BE SUCH A PERFECT TRAINING GROUND!
HOUSE OF MUTT @ LUCKNAM PARK, SPRING 2017
Pictures paint a thousand words so I'll leave it to the photos to tell the story of the first HoM @ Lucknam Park Retreat!
SPACE + TIME = HAPPY
Dogs are remarkably good at fitting in with and adapting to our lifestyles. That's why Beryl and Penny are currently curled up under my desk, busy keeping my feet warm as opposed to running across the prairie in wild wolfy packs (and definitely not being called Beryl and Penny while they're at it!). But sometimes that incredible adaptability and empathy can lead to confusion.
NEED A DOG-WALKER? FANCY BEN FOGLE FOR THE JOB?!
A dog walk by TV Presenter Ben Fogle is just one of the items on offer at the Protect Animals Greece auction on 10th May. Or a personalised and recorded poem from Sir Tom Courtenay; or a watercolour by Sir Quentin Blake; or a walk on part in Doc Martin with a helping hand from Martin Clunes. Great stuff that, as someone should have said sometime, normal money just can't buy - but auction money can.
PERSONAL TRAINING – THE WAY AHEAD
Having dogs trained is great - but its value is a hundred fold when us owners can share the lessons.
A WELSH VISITOR
Neli from deepest Wales came to stay for a speedy visit last Summer.
HOUSE OF MUTT @ LUCKNAM PARK. YES!
Following an extensive search and lots of assessing as to where is positively dog-welcoming as opposed to just dog-friendly, we’ve found the perfect hotel to fill in the blank of our ‘stately home sketch’ (Some Serious(ly Fun) Quality Time)
FESTIVAL FROLICS
The House of Mutt will be at the Red Rooster Festival in Suffolk, Euston Hall from 1st to 3rd June. We're 'doing' dog while Duke Harry and his Red Rooster crew 'do' the best line up of Rhythm and Blues this side of the deep South!
SPA SESSION, DOGGIE STYLE
Puppy training stage #432 - or whatever we're at now - the hydrotherapy bath :)
